
Plant Operator/Labourer- Town Streets
Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator/Labourer to join our Town Streets team within the Infrastructure and Environment Department.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Urban Works Supervisor, this hands-on position plays an important role in maintaining Cloncurry’s town streets, parks, and public spaces. The role involves operating small plant and machinery, performing general labouring duties, and contributing to the delivery of Council’s maintenance and construction programs that keep our town clean, safe, and well presented.

- Full Time- Stream B Level 4 -$62,0000 per annum + Superannuation.
- 5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)
- Monthly RDO (13 per year)

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of labouring tasks including mowing, slashing, litter collection, graffiti removal, and general town maintenance.
- Undertake street maintenance activities such as pothole patching, footpath repairs, kerb and channel works, and linemarking.
- Operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently, conducting pre-start checks and reporting any defects.
- Maintain signage, guideposts, and public spaces to a high standard.
- Assist with septic pump-outs, parks and gardens maintenance, and other operational works as required.
- Ensure compliance with Council’s Workplace Health and Safety standards and contribute to a positive team culture.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Experience operating small plant and equipment (e.g. mowers, whipper snippers, pumps, generators).
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality of work.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work outside ordinary hours when required.
Mandatory requirements:
- Manual C Class Driver’s Licence
- Construction White Card (prior to commencement)
- Current Police Clearance
Desirable qualifications:
- Traffic Control / Traffic Management Accreditation
- Heavy Vehicle (HR) Licence
- Plant Operator competencies across a range of machinery
- Pre-employment medical (fitness for work) may be required.
